The Town of Tarboro is seeking a safety-focused and dependable individual to join our Sanitation Division as an Equipment Operator. Working out of our downtown Tarboro facility, you will play a crucial role in keeping our community clean.
Main responsibilities include:
- Operating garbage trucks, dump trucks, and related equipment to collect residential and commercial waste
- Safely navigating routes and schedules, sometimes in narrow streets
- Loading waste at the curbside and transporting to the landfill for disposal
- Performing light equipment maintenance checks like fluid levels and tire pressure
- Following all safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work area
The ideal candidate will have:
- A valid CDL Class B commercial driver’s license
- Proficiency in operating large vehicles and ability to obtain necessary certifications
- Physical ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs and spend most of the day outdoors
- Reliable attendance and ability to work overtime as required
- Strong communication skills to professionally interface with customers
